Maximus (Caesar 235-238). AE Sestertius, Rome mint. Obv. MAXIMVS CAES GERM. Bare-headed and draped bust right. Rev. PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS SC. Maximus standing left, holding baton and spear; behind, two standards. RIC IV 13; C. 14. AE. 21.59 g. 29.50 mm. Superb example, from masterly engraved dies, with a fine style portrait. Uneven green and reddish brown patina. Earthen deposits on reverse, otherwise EF.
