Lotto 124:
Continental Greece. Kings of Thrace. Lysimachos (305-281 BC). AR Tetradrachm, Amastris (?) mint, circa 297-282 BC. Obv. Diademed head of Alexander the Great right, with horn of Ammon. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΛYΣIMAXOY. Athena seated left, elbow on shield, holding spear and Nike, crowning the king's name; to left, bow case (or wineskin?). Müller 460; Thompson -. AR. 16.76 g. 32.00 mm. RRR. Extremely rare variety. A very attractive example, struck on a broad flan, from a well detailed reverse die. Prettily toned, with golden hues. Minor metal flaw on obverse and slight traces of double strike, otherwise good VF/About EF.
This is one of the few cases that a type appears in Müller and not in the later publication of Thompson.
