Sicily. Syracuse. Philistis, wife of Hieron II (275-215 BC). AR 16 Litrai-Tetradrachm, struck c. 218-214 BC. Obv. Diademed and veiled bust left; behind, symbol almost all off flan (wreath?). Rev. BAΣIΛIΣΣAΣ/ΦIΛIΣTIΔOΣ. Nike driving walking quadriga right; Φ above. SNG ANS 872; HGC 2 1554. AR. 13.14 g. 27.00 mm. A superb example. Very slight roughness in fields, nicely toned with lovely bluish hues. About EF.
